First, pick up a Grand Central Map and Directory at the "I LOVE NEW YORK" information window in the Main Concourse.
Main Concourse - The most widely recognizable train terminal room in the world, with its famed Sky Ceiling, is the best location to orient yourself. You cannot miss the center information booth that has the four-face brass clock on top. If you stand facing that booth, with the train gates directly behind it, you are facing NORTH.
Retail Shops, Restaurants and Grand Central Market - Facing north, to your right is the EAST side of the Terminal where you will see Charlie Palmer's Métrazur restaurant on the balcony. Head that way for all the wonderful retail shops in the 42nd Street, Lexington and Graybar Passages (look on the marble archways and you will see these passages are identified). Also on the east side is the Grand Central Market, New York's European-style food hall. Once again facing the information booth, to your left is the WEST side of the Terminal. On the balcony you will find Cipriani Dolci and Michael Jordan?s The Steak House N.Y.C. Directly below them you are all the retail shops of the Shuttle and Biltmore Passages, including the New York Transit Museum Shop and Gallery. If you go up the west stairs to the balcony and proceed out through the Vanderbilt Avenue doors, make a quick left turn and go straight to the entrance of The Campbell Apartment.
Vanderbilt Hall - Standing at the information booth again, your back is to the SOUTH where you will find Vanderbilt Hall (the former Main Waiting Room). The Hall is a venue for ongoing public events, shows and the Holiday and Spring Fairs
Dining Concourse - From the Main Concourse, you can enjoy the lower level Dining Concourse by taking the stairs or escalators on either the east or west sides. For a much more scenic view, take either of the ramps found in the Shuttle or 42nd Street Passages. As you descend, you will find the world-famous Oyster Bar and Restaurant, which has been in operation as long as Grand Central has been open.
We are sorry, but lockers are not available for luggage storage.
