EVENTS

Mother’s Day Gift Wrap May 1012, 12pm to 6pm – Grand Central Terminal is offering complimentary gift wrapping services to help put the finishing touches on Mother’s Day shopping. Shoppers who present proof of purchase from The Shops at Grand Central can get their Mother’s Day gifts wrapped in custom wrapping paper featuring the iconic Zodiac ceiling of the Main Concourse.

Greek PanoramaMay 12–13, 10am to 6pm –  “GREEK PANORAMA” is coming to Vanderbilt Hall, featuring tourism, culture, and gastronomy from Greece with exhibitors, including hotels, travel agencies, tourism destinations, and more. Events include live folklore dancing and music, a Greek traditional food corner, and several surprises with lucky draws for all visitors. Entrance to the event is free and open to the public.

Metro-North’s Getaway Day ­– May 17, 11am to 3pm – Metro-North is kicking off summer with a Staycation Showcase in Vanderbilt Hall. Visitors are encouraged to stop by to participate in contests and a lunchtime concert, and to learn information about summer events, attractions, and outdoor adventures in New York City, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and beyond.

Applications for the 2017 Grand Central Holiday Fair – Through June 9 – Artisans are invited to submit an application online to be considered for this year’s Grand Central Holiday Fair. The focus of the Holiday Fair is on handmade merchandise crafted in the USA. All applications will be considered but merchandising consultants are primarily interested in the following categories: men’s accessories, tabletop, children’s, home décor, pottery, glassware, art, photography, and food. RETAIL and RESTAURANT OPENINGS

Aveda Re-opening early May – The Aveda Experience Center in the Lexington Passage will feature a plethora of opportunities for consumers to self-navigate their way through different areas of interest, including men’s and women’s haircare, skincare, makeup, body care, and aroma. At the Experience Center, consumers will also enjoy many experiences, including self- or advisor-led hair styling tutorials, wellness rituals, or an aroma sensory journey.

– Gerber Group will open The Campbell bar and outdoor terrace, after a complete restoration of the historic space. Located directly off of Vanderbilt Avenue, adjacent to Cipriani Dolci, The Campbell will feature an expansive collection of spirits, wines, and locally brewed craft beers. Gerber Group’s selections of classic and modern cocktails that highlight fresh ingredients will be complemented by a menu of elevated bar fare. Grand Central Market also offers shoppers all they need for a holiday BBQ or picnic.

Graduation and May Specials May 1–31 – Grand Central shops are celebrating graduation and May with grad-themed cupcakes or cakes from Magnolia Bakery; 20% off all brightly colored watch straps at Central Watch; a friends and family sale at Origins, offering $20 off a purchase of $45; and other deals and specials.

MTA eTix – This FREE app allows Metro-North Railroad customers to purchase train tickets anytime, anywhere with their mobile devices. The app, available for both iPhone and Android, is now available to all Metro-North customers on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines. Official MAS Guided Tours of Grand CentralDaily at 12:30pm – MTA Metro-North Railroad has teamed up with The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) and Orpheo Inc. to provide daily docent-guided tours of the Terminal. The 75-minute tour highlights the history, architecture, and operation of one of the world’s largest train terminals. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, students, children under 10, members of the military, Metro-North riders with same-day ticket stubs, and MAS members. Private and group tours also can be arranged. Grand Central Terminal Audio ToursDaily from 9am to 6pm – Available in “local” (one-hour) and “express” (30-minute) versions, this self-paced tour focuses on the architectural highlights of the Terminal, its secrets, famous visitors, and sometimes turbulent history. The tour is available at specially marked “GCT Tour” windows in the Main Concourse and downloadable on mobile devices. Audio tours are $9 for adults and $7 for seniors, military, students, and kids.
