Between Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day and graduation season, there’s plenty to celebrate in May, and the shops at Grand Central Terminal are getting into the spirit. EVENTS
Lufthansa OpenSeats – May 2 – May 5 – Lufthansa is hosting OpenSeats, the world’s first augmented reality travel experience. It will transport its users instantly to destinations around the world where they can play along with a Bavarian folk band, learn Kung-Fu from actual Shaolin monks and experience other unique interactions. The experience is open to visitors of all ages in Vanderbilt Hall.
Support Cycle Kids – April 26 and May 3 – Zaro’s Family Bakery has teamed up with Cycle Kids to help children develop positive life skills. Proceeds of orange & white cookie sales all day April 26 and May 3 will be donated to Cycle Kids. Additionally, from 7am to 10am on those two days, guests can meet Mark Fiorentino, Chief Baker at Zaro’s, and Julie Idlet, Cycle Kids Executive Director, at the Track 34 location.
Metro-North’s Getaway Day – May 16, 11am to 3pm – Metro-North is hosting Getaway Day in Vanderbilt Hall where visitors can learn how easy it is to get away for the day with a Metro-North ticket. Passersby also can enter to win one of 14 getaway prizes. Metro-North will be highlighting places to go, things to do, and easy getaways on the Harlem, New Haven, Hudson, and Pascack Valley/Port Jervis Line. More details can be found here.

Mother’s Day – Throughout May – All month long while supplies last, Diptyque shoppers who spend $150 or more will receive a 10ml Do Son Eau de Toilette and 35g Tuberose Candle. Café Grumpy is offering $1 off Cardamom Rose Lattes for Mother’s Day on May 12 and 13.
Cinco de Mayo – May 1 – 6 – In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, La Chula will be serving Taco de Carnitas at their Dining Concourse location. The taco consists of pork confit, chicharron, chile de árbol salsa, onion, cilantro and avocado for $4.50.
New Deals – Throughout May – Michael Jordan’s The Steak House N.Y.C. debuts their brand-new Glitter Cocktails, the Glitter Beet Martini and the Glitter Cosmo, for $17. Central Watch is offering 10% off any Dan Henry watch to celebrate recent graduates throughout the month of May with mention of the promo.

MTA eTix – This free app allows Metro-North Railroad customers to purchase train tickets anytime, anywhere with their mobile devices. The app, available for both iPhone and Android, is available to all Metro-North customers on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines. Be sure to check the “Today in Grand Central” feature each morning for daily offers and events. For more information, visit the website here.
Official MAS Guided Tours of Grand Central – Daily at 12:30pm – MTA Metro-North Railroad has teamed up with The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) and Orpheo Inc. to provide daily docent-guided tours of the Terminal. The 75-minute tour highlights the history, architecture, and operation of one of the world’s largest train terminals. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, students, children, members of the military, Metro-North riders with same-day ticket stubs, and MAS members. Private and group tours also can be arranged. Grand Central Terminal Audio Tours – Daily from 9am to 6pm – Available in “local” (one-hour) and “express” (30-minute) versions, this self-paced tour focuses on the architectural highlights of the Terminal, its secrets, famous visitors, and sometimes turbulent history. The tour is available at specially marked “GCT Tour” windows in the Main Concourse and downloadable on mobile devices. Audio tours are $9 for adults and $7 for seniors, military, students, and kids. Languages include English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. Information and downloads are available at https://orpheogroup.com/.
