July 12, 2018
New Website Honored for Its Redesign, Made Public Last Year Along with New Logo
Grand Central Terminal announced today it has won several awards this year for its new website, www.grandcentralterminal.com. The site was redesigned last year and made public in September 2017, in tandem with the historic landmark’s new logo.
Grand Central Terminal and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) enlisted Digital Natives Group to redesign and develop the website, which celebrates the beauty and history of the New York City landmark, while also highlighting shopping, dining, and tours available at the century-old transportation hub. The new, fully-responsive website was redesigned to include the following: a large assortment of vivid imagery, both historic and contemporary, that capture all the fine details of the architectural marvel; an easy-to-navigate interactive directory that makes it easier for users to find shops, drinks, and food available within the Terminal; 360° photography of the Terminal’s most famous spaces; and a robust exploration of Grand Central’s history, presented by New York Transit Museum.
“Metro-North is proud to serve as the steward for Grand Central Terminal,” said Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi. “The Terminal is not only central to the lives of our customers, but it’s an iconic destination that attracts visitors from across the country and around the world. A well-curated website can only help the public more easily find the many offerings available in this world class transportation hub.”
The following organizations honored the new website this year:
- Communicator Awards, which honors excellence in marketing and communications, bestowed upon the Grand Central website four awards of excellence in the categories of Features – User Experience, Features – Visual Appeal/Aesthetic, Website – Real Estate, and Website – Travel/Tourism. The award nominees are judged by The Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA), which includes some of the biggest names in the industry from all areas of marketing and communications. “We couldn’t be more honored to have played a part in helping tell the story of this amazing New York City institution. Designing the website for Grand Central Terminal was a team effort that required massive coordination among stakeholders and balancing all the diverse audiences Grand Central serves – and we are proud to see all of that hard work pay off. Huge congratulations to everybody involved, and here’s to the next stop in this icon’s journey!” said Ben Guttmann, Partner at Digital Natives Group.
