Events

Destination DCMarch 8, Vanderbilt Hall – Destination DC is hosting a pop-up event from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Get inspired to travel to the District this spring and summer through various D.C.-themed activities. Visitors can wade into a ball pit modelled after the reflecting pool on the National Mall, have their portrait taken alongside historical figures, create their own street mural, and interact with the Lincoln Memorial. There will also be a sweepstakes where visitors can enter for a chance to win and talk to Destination DC travel experts. For more information, visit washington.org.

Seventh GenerationMarch 20, Vanderbilt Hall – Join Seventh Generation for a root-in to raise awareness of the benefits of using recycled toilet paper. For more information, visit seventhgeneration.com.

Taste of Grand Central MarketMarch 11 and 13, 2–3pm – Visitors can enjoy free tastings and special deals from Grand Central Market merchants. Participating merchants include Ceriello Fine Foods, Eli Zabar’s Bread & Pastry, Eli Zabar’s Farm to Table, Oren’s Daily Roast, Pescatore Seafood Co., Sushi by Pescatore, Murray’s Cheese, and more. St. Patrick’s Day – Grand Central Terminal retailers will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all week long with exciting retail and food specials. Central Watch will be giving away free green nylon watch straps on March 15 and Vineyard Vines will have ties, hats, and pants in special festive prints. Stop by Central Market for a green beer and corned beef carving station on March 16. In addition, Bien Cuit will have traditional Irish Soda Bread for sale and Central Cellars will offer Irish Whiskey specials.

TartineryNow open, Lower Level Dining Concourse – Tartinery, a Parisian-inspired café and bar, is now open at Grand Central. The menu features elevated takes on Paris’ most iconic dish, the tartine, an open-faced sandwich topped with fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. Tartinery also offers wholesome breads, bountiful salads, grain bowls, craft coffee, and a curated selection of wines and spirts. Tartinery is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and apéro – happy hour with a Parisian twist.

MTA eTix – This free app allows Metro-North Railroad customers to purchase train tickets anytime, anywhere with their mobile devices. The app, available for both iPhone and Android, is available to all Metro-North customers on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines. For more information, visit the website here.

Official MAS Guided Tours of Grand CentralDaily at 12:30pm – MTA Metro-North Railroad has teamed up with The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) and Orpheo Inc. to provide daily docent-guided tours of the Terminal. The 75-minute tour highlights the history, architecture, and operation of one of the world’s largest train terminals. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for seniors, students, children, members of the military, Metro-North riders with same-day ticket stubs, and MAS members. Official Grand Central Terminal Audio ToursDaily from 9am to 6pm – Available in “local” (one-hour) and “express” (30-minute) versions, this self-paced tour focuses on the architectural highlights of the Terminal, its secrets, famous visitors, and sometimes turbulent history. The tour is available at the GCT Tours window in the Main Concourse across from Track 30. Audio tours are $9 for adults and $7 for seniors, military, students, and kids. Languages include English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. No reservations needed. Information is available at https://www.grandcentralterminal.com/tours/.
