Highland Park Orkadia
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with a three-day immersive installation from Highland Park
Highland Park, the award-winning single-malt Scotch whisky from Orkney, and acclaimed landscape architect and modern Viking soul Lily Kwong are proud to bring the spirit of the Orcadian summer solstice to New York City’s Grand Central Terminal at Vanderbilt Hall.
Titled “Highland Park Orkadia,” this three-day immersive installation is a celebration of the longest day of the year on one of the most unique landscapes in the world: Orkney, Scotland.
Remote, wild and windswept, Orkney is an archipelago situated off the far north coast of Scotland, where the North Sea rises up to meet the Atlantic Ocean. The wild winds that assault the islands create a starkly beautiful landscape in which few trees survive; this, in turn, creates the aromatic peat — woodless but rich in heather — that gives Highland Park whisky its distinctive flavor.
This summer solstice, we encourage you to slow down, share a dram of Highland Park whisky and enjoy the green landscape and rugged cliffs as they all come together to pay homage to the endlessly bright days of summer on Orkney.
