BG Artforms
BG Artforms was started in 1998 by Barry Gross, an artisan who enjoys creating handmade, one-of-a-kind fine writing instruments. He is inspired by nature and the rich texture of the burl and exotic woods that he incorporates into his work. Discovering new and varied materials to create unique pens is a driving force behind what inspires his creativity. Over the years he has explored using recycled materials such as mechanical watches, cigar labels, abalone shells, fly fishing lures, surgical knives, shipwreck coins (which he has personally collected while scuba diving) and a number of other exotic materials.
Barry is a popular pen turning teacher, and has published over 70 articles on pen making in various magazines, authored six books, is a member of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), Bucks County Woodturners, Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, Pen Makers Guild and was chosen to join the National Register of Who’s Who for executives and professionals.
Many publications have featured artist profiles on Barry and his work, including Niche Magazine, Pen World Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Handmade Magazine, and many others. Barry was a Niche Award Double Finalist in the Eco Friendly and Mixed Media Categories for his Watch Parts Pens© and Cholla cactus pens.
The White House commissioned Barry to make pens as gifts to be given to foreign dignitaries. Barry’s pens can be found in the pockets of many famous individuals including Steven Spielberg, Jimmy Buffet, Greg Norman and the former Speaker for The House of Representatives.
